Playthrough of test area (with voiceover)


This video shows a self-contained mini-playthrough of the early testing area of mycg

It's still very rudimentary and still has placeholder artwork etc., but you'll see that many of the systems are working (after a fashion). These include character animations, dynamic mapping, NPC interaction, simple quests, a basic text inventory, player upgrades, saving progress and a main menu.

I'm really pleased with how much I've done in the past few weeks since moving the project from GameMaker Studio to Godot. It's actually starting to feel like a game now, not just a sandbox for jumping about in.

Since uploading this video I've upgraded the project to run in full 1080p, instead of the original 720p I was intending. This is so I can use higher quality artwork and more detailed character sprites. This is not going to be a 'crunchy' pixel-art game.
